Overview
The Wildfire Edge is a technical approach boot that can be adapted from hiking to climbing. The Salewa Switchfit system, developed in collaboration with mountain guides and leading climbers in the Dolomites, is simple and smart. Simply tighten the laces in the back loop and pull. This pulls the forefoot into the toe and compresses the toes, similar to climbing boots. When you're done climbing, loosen the laces in the back loops for a roomier toe box and a more comfortable walk. To enhance climbing precision, the Wildfire Edge lining also has an edge plate right under the toe for extra directional rigidity, while the rest of the lining remains flexible for a comfortable and natural fit. For better grip and friction in both dry and wet conditions, the Pomoca Speed MTN sole is made of a butyl compound. The sole features a precise climbing zone in the toe, good edge retention and aggressive lugs that improve traction in mud and soft terrain. For greater rotational stability, the Exa Shell works with a 3F system that wraps the foot for flexibility, fit and support. The climbing laces go directly to the toes for a more precise and better fit.
